The Year of a Thousand Colors

by Lena Sclove, Copyright 2009,

I wrote this book when I was fourteen and lived for a year in the holy city of Varanasi, India. It tells the combined stories of being a white teenage girl, living with my parents in a Indian boys orphanage, and it uses a collaboration of different writing styles to piece together a picture of all that happened in those brimming and blossoming months. I hope that in reading about someone else’s journey of self discovery, you find new parts of yourself as well.
